Pilgrimage Saga Reaches Hopi
– Heads for Big Mountain –
Santa Fe, NM – As of December 13, 2006 the true saga Odyssey of the 8th Fire has reached the Hopi mesas in northeast Arizona, and is headed for the crucial North American sacred site at Big Mountain.
The saga of this epic walk – which began at the urging of North America’s spiritual elders in 1995 but which is still unfinished as of 2006 – has been published daily on the internet since June 23, 2006, and will continue until February, 2007 at http://www.8thfire.net
The saga of the walk paid tribute to one of New Mexico’s cultural treasures, Grandfather Martin Martinez, of Haystack, NM on Day 163 http://www.8thfire.net/Day_163.html Grandfather Martinez died November 6, 2006 at age 113 after a long life as a traditional Navajo Medicine Man, and as keeper of Tsoodsil (Mount Taylor), the south mountain of the Four Corners.
Being written and published on the internet day to day by veteran journalist Steven McFadden, Odyssey of the 8th Fire tells the true story of a journey which began in 1995, but which is still unfinished as of 2006.
Odyssey of the 8th Fire tells the tale of a pilgrimage for the earth involving people of all colors and faiths, and guided by ancient Algonquin Indian teachings.
Author Steven McFadden, a resident of Santa Fe, has a degree in journalism from Boston University, and 30 years of experience as a writer.
There is still time for readers to join the online pilgrimage, and to read along day by day as the true, unfinished story unfolds in serial fashion.
When complete in February, 2007, Odyssey of the 8th Fire will be archived on the internet, to serve future generations.
